Curriculum

Our three-year family medicine residency program prepares residents for the unique challenges and rewards faced by today’s family physicians. As primary care physicians, you will be expected to possess a broad spectrum of abilities. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing the preventive, continuous and comprehensive care of your patients.

Through broad-based educational experiences in both community and university hospitals, a model group practice, and select private practices, you will receive a structured education in all required areas of family medicine. Our program includes practice management and behavioral science curriculum to better prepare you for the demands of a family practice. In addition, three months of electives in your third year enable you to explore areas of interest or strengthen your clinical knowledge and skill base.

We are committed to the practice of family medicine. Our experienced faculty and staff are dedicated to providing residents with a supportive environment in which to learn and grow. You will be challenged as your responsibilities increase throughout the program; however, your rigorous training here will prepare you for a rewarding future in family medicine.

At the Family Medicine Center, you will experience first-hand the business side of running a practice. You will gain invaluable experience in a variety of clinical procedures, including: soft tissue and joint injections; casting; multiple skin procedures such as punch biopsies, excisional and incisional biopsies, and cryotherapy; colposcopy; endometrial aspiration; treadmill exercise stress testing; and other diagnostic tests.
