As a resident in the St. Luke’s Hospital / The University of
Toledo Family Medicine Residency Program, you will be living, working and
spending much of your free time in northwest Ohio over the next three years. It is our hope that you
will come to appreciate all that northwest Ohio has to offer and decide to stay in the area upon graduation.
Northwest Ohio is truly a great place to live. It offers a moderate climate that allows its inhabitants
to enjoy the spring, summer, fall and winter seasons in all their glory. The area also is conveniently
located within driving distances of the large metropolitan areas of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Detroit to the
north, Cleveland to the east, Columbus, Ohio, to the south, and Chicago to the west.
Affordable living is offered throughout the area with median household income near or above the average
at both the state and national level. When you factor in the very affordable housing market and excellent
public school systems in several area communities, northwest Ohio becomes an even more attractive place to live.
Northwest Ohio, featuring the city of Toledo and many surrounding
communities, offers residents many of the lifestyle amenities of a large
cosmopolitan area combined with the atmosphere and charm of small-town life.
Northwest Ohio really has a lot to offer when it comes to education, recreation,
sports and culture. For more information on the Toledo area and what is
happening around town, you can visit the
